Do u think it would be romantic to buy my gf some Mary Jane's & carry her books from school while barefoot?
I was thinking of pretending we were in a Norman Rockwell painting. I could buy her a pair of Mary Jane Shoes, some stockings, and a summery dress. Meanwhile I would just walk barefoot along side of her and carry her books home from school. Any girls think this would be a fun dating idea?
"Romantic" is a very individual thing, but I know I'd find it very romantic. I grew up with the quaint old rule that boys go barefoot and girls wear shoes. I knew it was long outdated, but it was something that connected me with my dad and my grandmother, and it always had a strong appeal to me. Back in my dating days I always insisted that any boy who wanted to walk beside me was walking barefoot. I always wore shoes myself. It might have been a nostalgic kind of romanticism, but it was definitely my kind. It felt like sort of a sexy contrast. I often wore Mary Janes, which I suppose were sort of "period"; but inspirational as she may be, I think the girl in the
famous painting is wearing lace up shoes.

I've never been into theatrical recreations, but you and your girlfriend just might be recognizable if you tried those outfits for Hallowe'en. I'm sure it would be a lot of fun for you anyway.
