help me remember the name of this movie!!! calling all movie experts?
I have memories as a kid of watching this movie that now seems really interesting to me. One part i specifically remember is a little white girl in a white dress or sleeping gown going up a set of what looks like spiral stairs and this is happening outside somewhere and there are woods around the area. the stairs was something her dad was building like a project. and she gets to the top and her mom goes after her. the moon also stands out alot in my memory. does anyone have any idea what the name of this movie is? it was in the mid 1990's when i watched it

When Ruth Matthews's husband is killed in a fall at an archaeological dig, her daughter Sally handles her father's death in a very odd manner. As Sally's condition worsens, Ruth takes her to see Jake, an expert in childhood autism. Jake attempts to bring Sally out of her mental disarray through traditional therapy methods, but Ruth takes a different route. She risks her own sanity by attempting to enter her daughter's mind and make sense of the seemingly bizarre things that Sally does, including building a wondrous house of cards.
