Mahalo for removing your what?
I was at a neighborhood goodwill today and at the store I found a stack full of cute wall decor. I bought one and when I got home I read the message "Mahalo for removing your shippers." It's really cute and I got it for 2 dollars... but I'm pretty sure the sign is suppose to read "Mahalo for removing your slippers" not "shippers."
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if "shippers" is used in Hawaii to mean slippers, flip-flops, or sandals?
I wanna hang this outside my door, but I'm putting it off until someone can shed some light on the shippers/slippers thing. Irregardless though, there are two little drawings of flip-flops on the sign and a hibiscus and some butterflies and it shouldn't be too hard to decipher for anyone... i think...
Anyhow, shippers?
I'm from Hawaii, an I have no idea what shippers is. I'm sure it meant 'slippers' which is what we call our flip flops here. It probably said "Mahalo for removing your slippers" because pretty much everyone in Hawaii does not wear footwear inside their houses.
